My experience as a journalist

During my time at New York International, I published a variety of articles focusing on the latest technological and business trends. New York International is focused on helping internationals make it in New York. We provided concepts, content, and internationalization support believing that future opportunities evolves around urban hubs.

What matters in New York will soon matter in the rest of the world.

Here is a selection of articles I wrote for New York International.

"Unlocking the World With KISI" - I interviewed German Co-Founder Max Schuetz about his virtual key smartphone system.

"What are smart cities?"- In combination with the World To NYC Global Industry Challenge organized by The NYCEDC and New York International I published a variety of articles focused on smart cities and sustainable cities. We primarily focused on the application of technology to drive urban sustainability,  more efficient use of resources and energy, and improving citizens overall quality of life. During this time we actively engaged international companies focused on these technologies to come to New York in September to participate in the program focused on "Smart and Sustainable Cities".

"Kickstarters for Smarter People" - I took a closer look into what projects focused on the Internet of Things and sustainable power that have been successfully funded on the crowdsourcing website "Kickstarter".

Hanna Aase: Founder of Wonderloop- I interviewed Norwegian entrepreneur, Hanna Aase, about her recently launched social network "Wonderloop". The interview focused on how she navigated the US startup scene to attract the right attention and grow her business.

"You are 13 apps away from living like a New Yorker" - In New York and other urban hubs, the sharing economy, a term often interchanged with the "instant gratification economy", is on the rise. Consumers wish to get anything they desire within minutes through the tap of a finger. Although not applicable (or viable) in smaller cities, New York City has become a driver of startups focused on tailoring to this growing consumer trend. This article was written for internationals in order to give them an idea of what services are available in New York by simply using an app.

"Swipe, Click, Book" - Due to the amount of conferences we organized, we wanted to provide our guests with some helpful resources as to how to best book hotels when visiting New York. I researched and tested a variety of hotel booking apps in order to facilitate this process for them.

Verdens Gang 2011

During the summer of 2011 I worked as an online entertainment and fashion journalist for Norway's largest media house, Verdens Gang. I got to work with the most talented journalists in the industry in a fast paced and dynamic environment. I interviewed a number of influential people, industry experts and public profiles. As a journalist, part of my responsibility was to think creatively and come up with new stories and ideas. Monitoring tools allowed us to measure the response and interest for our stories in real time.

Feel free to review some of my articles here (note:they are in Norwegian).

A small collection of articles I wrote during the aftermath of the terror attack that struck the government headquarters in Oslo and Utøya. 77 people tragically lost their lives.

Among a variety of influential personalities, I interviewed the great comedian Jerry Seinfeld in April 2012 at Gotham Comedy Club.

In September 2011 I travelled to Mozambique with the Charity Organization Right To Play. Together with a team I visited a number of schools in the country. I observed and documented their efforts to help children learn about life values and skills, promote health, build peace and develop communities through sport and play.

During my time at the Norwegian School of Business I was involved with the student newspaper, Inside. For two years (2009-2011) I contributed as a journalist and photographer. I published several articles for each edition released every month. During my final year of school I functioned as Feature Editor with complete responsibility for one of the largest sections within the paper.

For my final project at The New School in May 2014 I lead a team project in which we used augmented reality to present our ideas for how we envision the newspaper industry will evolve in the future. You can read more about that here

Feel free to watch how we presented our innovation below:

In October 2011 I attended an intensive one-week film course at Columbia University Journalism School. During the course I produced and edited this piece on the newly introduced and controversial Bike lanes in NYC.
